2008 NWP Annual Meeting—Friday

A rich variety of opportunities are available on Friday. The day begins with a coffee hour at NWP Central and an orientation session for first-time attendees, followed by the General Session.

After the General Session, you can choose among an array of sessions. Two rounds of sessions feature the work of teachers, sites, programs, and initiatives of the National Writing Project. The day concludes with the NWP Social at 5:30 pm.

General Session

Join your colleagues at the NWP General Session on Friday morning. This gathering of writing project teachers, site leaders, educators, and special guests is the keystone event of the Annual Meeting.

Breakout Sessions

Choose from NWP sessions covering a range of topics that includes writing on- and offline, diversity, site leadership, and professional research. No registration is required.

Friday Events

We invite you to cap off your day at the NWP Social on Friday evening. Other events include general information sessions and dinner with San Antonio Writing Project teacher-consultants.

NWP Central

The National Writing Project invites all Annual Meeting participants to visit NWP Central in the 4th floor ballroom foyer of the Grand Hyatt San Antonio on Thursday and Friday. Sign in and post a dot on the map for your site. Pick up a meeting packet and a nametag.

NWP Sales Table

Be sure to stop by the sales table at NWP Central, where you can purchase copies of NWP's award-winning books, buy NWP's newly designed t-shirts, and pick up other useful materials. The sales table will be open from 7:30 am to 5:00 pm on Thursday and Friday.

Be sure to stop by the Henry B. Gonzalez Convention Center and visit the NWP exhibit booth at this year’s NCTE Convention. NWP staff and local teacher-consultants will be on hand to provide information about writing project programs. The booth will also feature a game, publications, and materials from NWP and local writing project sites.

The booth is open Friday, noon–6:00 pm; Saturday, 9:00 am–5:00 pm; Sunday, 9:00 am–1:00 pm
