Leadership Structure at the University of Mississippi Writing Project Site, MS

Summary: This site leadership map shows how the University of Mississippi Writing Project describes their infrastructure—the work of the site and the people who lead the work. Read how they describe the thinking behind their organizational structure—including the design for site governance (advisory board, teacher-consultant council, etc.) and the site's relationship with its host institution.

The University of Mississippi Writing Project site map (see below) shows the three components of the NWP model at the center. In the larger circle, we show our partnerships within the university, with the Mississippi Writing/Thinking Institute, and with the National Writing Project, as they are all a part of who we are and what we do. Everything circles in on itself.

The director is at the center of the map, but the site wouldn't survive without the incredible drive of the leadership team:

  • Geraldine (Jerry) Lunday is the Professional Development Co-Director.
  • Allison Movitz is the Co-Director of Special Programs and Project Outreach 3 Site Coordinator.
  • Jaime Harker, Leen Benoit, and Angie Griffin are the SI Leadership Team.
  • Marsha Murphree, the Technology Liaison, leads new Tech Team.

The following TCs are new to the leadership team and are taking a more active role in the site development and leadership:

  • Cynthia Stanley will be stepping into more of a leadership role in Rural Sites work and open program planned for the Summer of 2007.
  • Cyndi Shelby will be leading a new study group on Reading/Writing in Poverty Areas.
  • Angie Quinn will be leading a new ELL study group.
  • Belinda Tutor will move into a YW Coordinator role.
  • Kerry Holmes will be taking over more of the New Teacher/Preservice Teacher Mentoring Program this year.
